Biography
Attorney Windy R. Ortega graduated cum laude from Charlotte School of Law and is a member of the Maryland Bar. While in law school, she participated in the Civil Rights Clinic, where she addressed police misconduct and led a nationwide initiative to ban prosecutorial releases that hindered a criminal defendant's ability to file civil claims against law enforcement. In her practice, Ms. Ortega focuses on representing adult and juvenile clients facing criminal charges and serious traffic offenses, as well as those injured in auto accidents throughout the greater Baltimore area. Known for her tenacity and meticulous preparation, she approaches each case as if it will go to trial, achieving numerous dismissals and favorable outcomes.
Ms. Ortega is known for her superior litigation skills involving duis and a wide range of criminal cases, including assaults, theft, handgun and drugs charges, and serious felonies such as robbery and attempted murder. She has also become known as one of the best juvenile defense attorneys in Maryland.
She has been recognized continuously by her peers for her fierce client advocacy. She was named a Rising Star by her peers from 2016 to 2023, and in 2024 made the Daily Record’s Criminal Law Attorney Power List. The Power List showcases Maryland’s power players who are leading key organizations, creating change, impacting the community and engaging others to succeed. This is a very high honor and well deserved as Ms. Ortega advocates passionately for her clients’ rights. Ms. Ortega is a member of The National College of DUI Defense, Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys’ Association, The Anne Arundel County Bar Association, and the Maryland State Bar Association.
