Joshua T. Ortega

Attorney Joshua T. Ortega has dedicated his career to protecting the rights of others in the face of complicated legal situations. Mr. Ortega has experience in a wide range of criminal and civil matters - including criminal and civil defense, family law, and personal injury cases. Mr. Ortega's experience helps him hone in on the issues facing his clients, identify winning strategies, and effectively put his plan into action. As a zealous advocate, Mr. Ortega gives his clients a powerful voice both in and out of the courtroom.

Mr. Ortega currently focuses on defending the criminally accused as well as those charged with serious traffic offenses. Mr. Ortega has successfully represented defendants charged with a wide variety of crimes. His trial experience includes everything from serious felonies such as murder, attempted murder, robbery, drug crimes, and assaults, to common misdemeanors like theft, driving without insurance, driving while under the influence, and possession of controlled dangerous substances. No matter the charge, Mr. Ortega artfully guides his clients through the criminal justice system, passionately advocating for his clients and their rights.

Outside of the courtroom, Mr. Ortega is as an assistant coach to the University of Maryland Francis King Carey's National Mock Trial Team. Since 2015, Mr. Ortega has helped aspiring lawyers develop the craft of the trial attorney, teaching the fundamentals of opening statements, cross and direct examinations, closing arguments, and developing the understanding of objections. As an assistant coach, Mr. Ortega frequently travels with the mock trial team as they compete against other law schools throughout the country.

Originally from California, Mr. Ortega graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Charlotte School of Law in Charlotte, North Carolina. While in law school, Mr. Ortega competed nationally in mock trial competitions in California, New York, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
